Hockney
David Hockney is an English painter and photographer from the United Kingdom. Born July 9, 1937 always had a keen interest in art from a young age, attending an art school in London before moving to Los Angeles in the 1960s. Where he began painting his famous swimming pool paintings. Soon after in the 1970s, Hockney began working in photography, creating photo collages he called "joiners". He now continues to create and exhibit art, and in 2011 he was voted the most influential British artist of the 20th century.
While taking these photos I actually had a bit of fun counting the number of photos along with the spacing I was giving myself mentally where I saw a full photo but rather just capturing very small portions of one to create a full scene. In Photoshop all I did to create these was to import them onto Photoshop and transforming and scaling them down to fit the scene using the rule of thirds. I made the top images smaller in contrast to the bottom images in order to bring a sense of depth from top to bottom, bottom being closest to top being the farthest.

Magazine Cover
I chose Rolling Stone magazine because they're just generally a good magazine that mostly covers good music and I like the vintage feel of the original logo as well. I used font that was available in Photoshop. The font I used was Source Sans Pro Bold and used the eyedropper tool to retain the color of the Rolling Stones' title. Well originally I was going to do a gaming magazine due to the shirt I was wearing but even my shirt didn't really show all to much and I was listening to Bowie and decided Rolling Stones would be pretty cool and the pose just kinda happened. The strobe light is one VERY bright flash and is used for lighting up a subject, nicely.
A modeling light is (from my knowledge) a handheld light that is held up to further brighten up dark spaces. A soft box is a box, that also softens light from a generally bright studio light. A reflector reflects light and would be used to apply (depending on what kinda of reflector) a different tone to the light. A grey card is to check to see if the colors on your image will come out as well as they could. A radio trigger system is an attachment to your camera and strobe light in order to trigger them both at the same time, very useful for portrait photography. That is all.

This photo was taken while my friends and I were at the Oceanside Pier, they knew I was supposed to be taking photos but I absolutely refused to take a picture on the pier, especially of the sunset so ended up taking this cool photo, no sunset included.
The reason this photo is in the San Diego County Lifestyles division is because any local of San Diego, Oceanside specifically, knows this place or at least can see the photo and recall its’ familiarity. For some the Oceanside Pier is a historic landmark for tourists to parade on. For others, like me, it’s a home, a home where I find myself thinking all sorts of things like; the rest of the open world just beyond the horizon, whether I should get a boat and sail off into the sunset someday, and cats. Naturally.

Sports Photography
I AM EXASPERATED. On how these came out, and I feel like it was also really fun to take photos. I mostly took action shots of my classmates playing soccer and shooting as much as I could. I tried not to focus much on the individuals but on their actions and movement, as seen above, some of them are just cool leg shots!
Mood Portraits
Composite Project
For my photo I wanted to not only represent the song "Float On" by Modest Mouse but represent the music video as well. What I did to create this was really just a LOT of layer masks and changing the hues and balances as well. I also used a gradient to put in the clouds in the distance because the original background was pretty bland. Also utilized the burn tool to add in the shadow for the man. Altogether I feel like I learned a lot and furthered my knowledge on Photoshop and quickly using it proficiently.

Portraitures
What I learned from going to the duck pond is that taking more professional photos outside in the sunlight is actually a LOT harder than I previously thought it to be. We used the sheet of paper with the many poses on it to take some of these photos and really only used a few of them then just got creative with a few other poses and I found the sheet to be pretty useful since I wouldn't have initially had any idea as to what we should do for the poses so the sheet was pretty useful. We used the reflectors to give more sunlight and warmth in areas where we knew there wasn't much and it really did look much better with the reflectors for most of the images. To retouch the photographs I only used a face mask and got a bit more technical by grabbing the whole face but removing the eyes from the mask so that they wouldn't become blurred along with part of the face. Portrait photographers use tons of different poses that we didn't even see on the sheet or know about previously. Portrait photographers are hired everywhere from modeling for magazines to students in their senior year and their salary can range from $18,850 to $72,200 a year. A standard business portrait can cost anywhere from $100 to $250 and a modeling or acting portrait can cost from $200 to $400 depending on your area.
Food Photography
I brought Coke, Pepsi, Popcorn, M&Ms, and a lollipop. I really on brought the popcorn bags as a prop to give a more vintage look along with the classic bottles of Coke and Pepsi. Five things I learned from this project is that there is even such thing as food STYLIST which was pretty wacky to me but they make good money so props to them! Another thing I learned is that to make a full burger shown in all its' beauty they kinda slant the burger when taking a photo then touch it up like a beautiful model. Everything in food photography is very meticulously placed and for purpose to make the food more appealing. To give bottles a chilled look food stylists will often use surf wax, some kind of syrup, and aqua gel, which was very fascinating to me for some reason. Finally the last thing would be that there are THREE types of backgrounds for food photography, those being environmental, stylistic, and limbo! To make my photos look more professional I carefully placed M&Ms around and tried my best to get the right angles. Careers or businesses that use food photography would be any large chain restaurant like McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, etc. I think that honestly only one photo that I actually liked but I won't say because you can decide which one you think is a good one but it was fun to do either way and I definitely do think that I will try doing this again because I want to improve my shots on this particular project with of course different types of food.
